Warm weather

Supposedly Utah just hit the lowest recorded snowfall as of today. I thought the water levels on the river were bad last year… I can’t imagine what they’ll be like with a bum winter like this!
As for the week’s happenings, I think I have the memory of a mouse. Is that the opposite of an elephant? Whatever the case, my memory is not too great so I already forgot most of what happened this week.
Weekday work
This story is going to get really old really fast. As you could guess, we both worked this week. I worked Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (day shift) and Aaron worked Monday through Friday (normal hours… although one day he got home at 9 pm because of a long-awaited, overdue heart-to-heart meeting with his bosses. I’ll let him tell that story if he wants). My shifts were good, I had the same patient three days in a row so that was nice.
Ski slopes
Our friend Kelly stayed over at our house Wednesday night. It was kind of a last minute arrangement since she was planning to sleep in her car but that was going to be unnecessarily cold so she came over to our nice warm house. While Aaron went to work on Thursday (RIP), Kelly, me, and our other river friend Emmy (who we worked with in Moab but now works in the Grand (in fact, she was my first Deso TL)), went skiing at Brighton. Emmy’s grandparents live nearby and she was just stopping by for a day or two on her way around the country visiting various friends and family. The snow at Brighton wasn’t too bad, luckily. We skied for most of the day (I guess I skied and they snowboarded), which was way longer than I’ve gone thus far in the season, so I was pretty sore after.

Granny’s Guppies
My cousins and I started an intramural inner tube water polo team at BYU a few years ago (in honor and continuance of the tournament-winning team our parents had back in the day). We have unfortunately not won a tournament and it’s equally unfortunately me and Aaron cannot participate anymore now that we graduated, but we have joined the cheering squad and attended the latest game this week. Cash did great as keeper! We left at halftime but he said they won 16-6 or something like that. As a funny side note, the team they were playing was captained by our second cousin, Spencer Woolley, who was on our team the first year we started it.

Brooke’s bash
Our friend Brooke Jones invited a bunch of river people over to her house for a game night. It was fun to see everyone and catch up with people we haven’t seen in a while (aka Kalli, Benji, Sage, etc). We played Secret Hitler, which is a game I usually quite enjoy but was rather challenging in such a rowdy group of loud voices. I prefer a more structured version of debate as opposed to the all-out shouting match that took place the majority of the time. Still fun to spend time with everyone though.
Knit knight
On Friday evening, Aaron, Thomas, and I went to my grandma’s in Spanish Fork to learn how to knit. The idea started when Thomas sent me a super cool knitting sweater pattern book and we decided we needed to learn to knit. At first we planned on teaching ourselves using Professor YouTube or something, but then I had the genius realization that my grandma is super close by now and she most certainly knows how to knit. Cash and Jarom, one of our other friends from the river, joined the evening as well. It was quite fun and I’m excited to keep learning. It was also fun to see my grandpa. We brought him a summer sausage we found at the grocery store because I have a vague memory of my mom saying he really likes them and they were on a great sale after Christmas.

Prayer people
Aaron and I said the prayers at church today, which I had forgotten until I got there and saw our names in the program. Good thing I got out of bed this morning… that would have been quite awkward to miss. We’re making bierocks today, so hopefully those turn out okay. I also made a bunch of breakfast burritos for the next couple weeks. It was all quite a bit of work but now we’re taking a break by watching the next season of our favorite show: Interior Design Masters. It’s a British competition reality TV show about aspiring interior designers. It’s funny, wholesome, and a great way to relax.
